Lion’s Mane mushroom is my favorite medicinal mushroom because of its effects on the brain. I first started studying it and then began using it to treat my trauma brain/adhd and quickly fell in love with it.

I learned that it may help prevent or reverse dementia and Alzheimer’s as well as heal the brain from any injuries like concussions and trauma. I have used this magical mushroom for 5 years now and have also treated my children with it at times. Egyptian Lotus is a fun adaptogen that I discovered while I was researching Kava root. It also has a deep history for ceremonial use and provides a fun alternative feeling than that of the Kava root. Firefly infuses some of their specialty Kombucha Brew’s with the beautiful flower.

The term Egyptian lotus flower usually refers to the blue lotus (Nymphaea caerulea), a water lily native to the Nile region and parts of East Africa. Sometimes people also mean the white Egyptian lotus (Nymphaea lotus), but the blue lotus is the one most often linked to ancient Egyptian culture and traditional uses.
Plant type: A perennial water lily with striking blue or bluish-purple petals and a yellow center.

I discovered Kava about a year into launching the business and I knew it was something we needed to integrate into our Kombucha brews. The more I studied it, toured cities that were serving it in Kava bars and spoke with Kava users from all over; I was reassured Firefly was headed in the right direction to become a leader in the functional beverage industry. Kava root comes from the plant Piper methysticum, a member of the pepper family that grows in the South Pacific. It has been used for thousands of years in Polynesian, Melanesian, and Micronesian cultures for its calming and mildly sedative effects.

The root of the kava plant contains a group of active compounds called kavalactones, which are responsible for its effects on the central nervous system. These compounds can promote relaxation, reduce anxiety, and create a sense of mild euphoria without impairing mental clarity.
